No, you know what? I’m getting fed up about this. Every day there’s a new post in the Ygritte tag about how annoying her “you know nothing” line is. 

Do you understand the weight of that one line? She is a woman, a “savage” woman, telling the son of a prominent lord that he knows nothing of a culture that has been denied rights for thousands of years by his own “cultured” peoples south of the Wall.

Can you image what would happen to her if she were a lady of the kingdoms? To tell a man how little he knows of something? To remind him of her seniority and intelligence? Spoiler: it wouldn’t happen. It doesn’t happen. Ygritte was lucky enough to be born of a people who grant her the freedom to voice her mind without consequence. She’s outspoken because SHE CAN BE. This does not mean she is arrogant. This does not mean she is “belittling” Jon (lmao). This means she is a woman with the ability to tell her idiot boyfriend that he is being an idiot, whenever he’s being an idiot, because he’s an idiot.

And guess what!! She’s right! Jon knows fuck-all about wildling culture, something of which he is thrust into the middle, and without Ygritte, he would be dead. There’s no question to that - he would be dead without her. Jon realizes this, which is why he -gasp- listens to her. Because he knows she’s right! Because! She! Is!

So the next time you decide to make a post talking about how “annoying that bitch is” you should be thankful that you, too, can voice your own annoying opinion to whomever can read. BECAUSE THAT’S NOT IRONIC OR ANYTHING.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? There are people in this world who think Ygritte is “an annoying bitch” (O_O ;…….;)?! She is only one of the best best best female characters in literature to ever exist ever. All of the above is true, and it’s why I love the Jon-Ygritte relationship so much. Because there’s nothing about her being with Jon that holds her back from anything.
